Dedicated to the support of the Ludington State Park!

The FLSP Summer Series is coordinated closely with the DNR Park Interpreter assigned to Ludington State Park. The following information provides an overview of the requirements and process for performing in the Summer Series.

Usually, cost is one of the first considerations. FLSP is a small non-profit operating with limited funds. FLSP typically pays $200 to $700 depending on the number of individuals performing, distance traveled, etc. Please note that FLSP volunteers pass a bucket during each performance to collect goodwill offerings to help fund the Summer Series.

Presenter Performance Terms

Start time will be 7:00 p.m. on a Tuesday or Saturday. All setup, including sound checks, must be completed no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.

  1. Performance Length. The performance will be a minimum of 60 minutes, unless otherwise mutually agreed upon by both parties.
  2. Performance Content. The performance will be live, with content determined by the Presenter. All content must be appropriate for audiences of all ages and must not include profanity, vulgarity, or other inappropriate material.
  3. Equipment and Power. The Presenter will provide all equipment necessary for the performance, including appropriate sound amplification sufficient for the performance to be heard adequately throughout the venue. LSP will provide access to a standard 120-volt electrical outlet.
  4. Performance Area and Equipment Responsibility. The Presenter understands that the performance areas at LSP do not provide shelter or coverage for performers or their equipment. FLSP and LSP assume no responsibility for loss of or damage to equipment or other property provided by the Presenter or the Presenter’s contractors.
  5. Cancellation Due to Weather or Other Circumstances. FLSP or LSP may cancel the performance due to inclement weather, an act of nature, government restrictions, or similar circumstances beyond their reasonable control. Whenever reasonably possible, FLSP or LSP will notify the Presenter at least three hours before the scheduled start time. If the performance is canceled for one of these reasons, FLSP will not be responsible for payment to the Presenter for travel expenses, the canceled performance, or other related costs. FLSP will work with the Presenter in good faith to attempt to reschedule the performance for a mutually acceptable date.
  6. Promotional Use. Before and after the performance, FLSP and LSP may use photographs of the Presenter to promote the Presenter, the event, and the overall Presenter Series. Promotional use may include print materials, websites, and social media.
  7. Indemnification. The Presenter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless FLSP and LSP from claims arising from property damage or bodily injury related to the Presenter’s performance, activities, equipment, or contractors.
  8. Marketing Materials. The Presenter will provide three photographs from prior performances for marketing and promotional purposes no later than 90 days before the scheduled event.

Throughout the year, FLSP will accept email inquiries from groups interested in performing in the Summer Series. In January, a committee will begin meeting to lay out the Series for the following summer. This process includes deciding which groups that have performed in prior years will be invited back, since not all groups are invited back each year.

Once we determine the desired list of groups, we will ask those on it to confirm their interest in participating and submit three dates, in order of preference, when they are available to perform. Groups will start to be slotted into the calendar and notified. Selected groups must complete an online FLSP Summer Series contract in order to confirm their participation.

If you or your group are interested in being considered for the Summer Series, email FriendsofLudingtonStatePark@gmail.com and include the following information in your email:

  1. Name under which you would be performing
  2. Links to content you would be performing
  3. A list of past performances and locations
  4. Three references from past performances that were similar to what you would be doing in the Summer Series
  5. Desired compensation.
